Cairo, 29 November, 2022 (LANA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqeela Saleh, affirmed that the sovereign positions are essentially institutions belonging to the parliament and one of its arms in monitoring the executive authority, indicating that the appointment or dismissal of their heads is an inherent competence of the House of Representatives.

Saleh said in a press statement after his meeting with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul-Ghaith in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, that the political agreement provided for consultation with the High Council of State, and it was agreed more than a year ago in Bouznika with the HCS to change the heads of sovereign positions. The House of Representatives fulfills its obligations according to that agreement, but the State Council has been late in implementing it so far.

In his statement, the Speaker added that it was agreed with the President of the High Council of State during the recent meetings in Rabat to activate the Bouznika agreement on sovereign positions, and that agreement will be reached in the coming day.
