National Elections Commission announces opening of candidacy for presidential and parliamentary elections.

Tripoli, The National Elections Commission announced the opening of nominations for the presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya, starting, Monday.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Elections Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, said in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Commission in Tripoli that the acceptance of applications for candidacy for the presidency will continue until the “22nd ” of this month, while applications for candidacy for the House of Representatives will continue to be accepted until 7th December.

With regard to accepting applications for candidacy for the presidency, al-Sayeh , explained that they are limited to the commission’s branches in the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi and Sebha only.

As for accepting applications for candidacy for membership of the House of Representatives, they can be submitted in all branches of the commission’s offices across the country.

al-Sayeh announced that the commission will distribute voter cards, which amounted to “2.8” million cards in the election centers, which reached “1906” centers from two in the afternoon and the process will continue until six in the evening and for a period of two weeks.

al-Sayeh called on voters to assume their responsibilities and abide by the electoral regulations for the first presidential elections to be held in Libya since its independence
