Minister of Local Government discusses with European Union mission local government projects in 2023

Tripoli – The Minister of Local Government of the Interim Government of National Unity, Badr al-Din al-Toumi, has discussed with the delegation of the European Union Mission to Libya the ministry’s projects to be implemented within the investment plan set for the year 2023, within the framework of international cooperation and support for municipalities.

The meeting included the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the High Council for Local Administration, Nasr al-Din al-Mahtout, his deputy, Ayman Abu al-Qasim, the director of the International Cooperation Office in the ministry, Maysa al-Rujabi, the deputy head of the North Africa Unit in the European Union Delegation to Libya, Liz Pate, the head of the cooperation department in charge of the mission, Lucia Santuccione, and the director of the Programs Office, Vicente Celis.

The meeting discussed the performance of the work of the Ministry of Local Government, the evaluation of projects completed during the year 2022, in addition to the difficulties that faced their implementation, and proposals that would contribute to accelerating and improving the rates of completion of project work according to the time limits set for them, and discussing cooperation in the success of activating decentralization in all municipalities.

Al-Toumi stressed the interest of the Ministry of Local Government to support the municipalities through the implementation of several projects during 2023, through which several services will be provided at the level of formulating strategies, conducting studies and providing technical advice, which is aimed at supporting local administration and activating the decentralization project in Libya.
