Libya: Displacement Mobility Tracking – Event Tracker Update (1 – 31 March, 2019)

Abusliem

In March, an estimated 750 migrants arrived in Abusliem from neighbouring municipalities. Reportedly, the newly arrived migrants were looking for work opportunities.

Ain Zara

An estimated 700 migrants arrived in Ain Zara in March, and while some were transiting through to continue onwards to other destinations, it was reported that there was a noticeable increase in the number of migrants who arrived and were looking for work opportunities locally.

Alasabaa

An estimated 185 migrants were reported to have arrived in Alasabaa from southern Libya, reportedly planning to continue their journey to other destinations.

Alsharguiya

An estimated 200 individuals have been displaced in Alsharguiya; reportedly they left Murzuq due to the volatile security situation. IDPs are reportedly staying with relatives and in rented accommodation; main reported needs are food; NFIs and medicine.

Ashshwaryif

An estimated 1450 migrants were reported to have arrived in Ashshwayrif from southern Libya, reportedly planning to continue their journey to other destinations.

Azzintan

An estimated 340 migrants were reported to have arrived in Azzintan from the southern Libya. Some were looking for work opportunities whereas others were planning to continue onwards to other destinations.

Benghazi

An estimated 920 migrants arrived in Benghazi in March 2019 looking for work opportunities, mostly in the construction sector.

Derna

As the security situation reportedly remained stable, people continued to return. In March, at least 295 individuals were reported to have returned to Derna, and their reported needs included food, NFIs, medicines, and protection.

Hrawa

An estimated 130 to 250 migrants were reported to have arrived in Hrawa from Alkufra, Ejdabia, Sebha and Benghazi; some were looking for job opportunities while others planned to continue their journey to other destinations.

Murzuq

In March, it was reported that 50 families have returned to Murzuq who had previously been displaced to Alsharguiya; Sebha; Ubari and Taraghin. Access to food, non-food items, and medical have been reported to be their main needs.

Qasr Akhyar

An estimated 200 migrants were reported to have arrived to Qasr Akhyar; some were looking for job opportunities while others planned to continue their journey to other destinations.

Gasr Bin Ghashir

An estimated 210 migrants were reported to have arrived to Qasr Bin Ghashir from neighbouring municipalities, reportedly, looking for job opportunities.

Sebha

An estimated 150 individuals have been displaced to Sebha; reportedly they left Murzuq due to the volatile security situation. Some of the IDPs are staying with relatives while others are renting, their main reported needs are food and non-food items.

Suq Aljumaa

It was reported that 6 families who had been previously displaced to Misrata and Ejdabia have returned to Suq Aljumaa. Their main reported needs were non-food items, and blankets.

An estimated 300 migrants were reported to have arrived to Suq Aljumaa, and were reported to be planning to continue their journey to other destinations.

Swani Bin Adam

An estimated 820 migrants were reported to have arrived in Swani Bin Adam from other municipalities. Some were looking for work opportunities whereas others were planning to continue onwards to other destinations.

Taraghin

An estimated 75 individuals have been displaced in Taraghin; reportedly they left Murzuq due to the unstable security situation. The IDPs are staying with relatives; their main reported needs were food and non-food items.

Ubari

An estimated 20 individuals have been displaced in Ubari; reportedly they left Murzuq due to the unstable security situation. The IDPs are staying with relatives; their main reported needs were food, non-food items and health care.

Yefren

In March, an estimated 62 individuals who had been displaced to Tripoli were reported to have returned.
