Tripoli: The Minister of Local Government of Libya, Badr Al-Toumi, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qasim Haroun, the Minister of Decentralization of Djibouti, in a significant stride towards bolstering local administration cooperation between the two nations.
According to Libyan News Agency, the signing ceremony, which took place in Tripoli, was attended by key figures including Abu Bakr Al-Ghawi, the Minister of Housing and Construction, Fathallah Al-Zani, the Minister of Youth, and Nasr Al-Mahtout, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Local Administration. Several directors of departments and offices within the Ministry of Local Government were also present.
The memorandum aims to establish and activate frameworks for joint cooperation in local administration, focusing on capability development and experience exchange between specialized training centers. These efforts will include preparing training programs for leaders and cadres in local administration across various spe
cializations, targeting workers involved in local administration in both countries.
Furthermore, the agreement includes organizing international conferences and workshops on decentralization and local administration issues, facilitating mutual visits between training centers to share experiences, and establishing a permanent joint committee. This committee will ensure a mechanism for continuous cooperation and consultation, aiming to consolidate the principle of decentralization and achieve sustainable local development in alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
