Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Maawda, today issued Edict (120) of 2022, forming the High Committee to Oversee the Integrity of the Elections of the members of the Council of Representatives.
Chaired by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, the committee comprises the following members:
– Judge Masooma Abdulrasool Isa Mohammed.
– Chancellor Wael Rasheed Khalifa Bu Allay.
– Judge Ibrahim Sultan Ibrahim Al-Zayed.
– Chancellor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Hammadi.
– Judge Ali Ahmed Jumaa Al-Kaabi.
– Judge Mohammed Mirza Mohammed Aman.
– Judge Salman Abdulla Abdulridha Al-Asfoor.
The edict stipulates that the committee shall oversee the integrity of the election of the members of the Council of Representatives in all regions and electoral constituencies, and examine all matters submitted to it by its sub-committees, in accordance with the provisions of Article (7) of the Decree-Law (14) of 2002 on the Exercise of Political Rights. It shall also announce the results of the elections and inform the winners.
The edict also stipulates that the High Committee shall have an Executive Committee that oversees all tasks related to the electoral process.
