Iranian President: International community required to take immediate action to end Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed on Tuesday the need for the international community to act immediately to end the Zionist entity’s aggression on the Gaza Strip and put an end to its miserable attack on Lebanon before it spreads to the entire region and the world.

In his speech before the high-level general debate of the United Nations General Assembly, the Iranian president said: “The Zionist entity was defeated in Gaza and no amount of barbaric violence will restore the myth that it is invincible.”

He stated that the responsibility for all the consequences “will be borne by all those who thwarted global efforts aimed at ending this horrific catastrophe, and that the world witnessed during the past year “the true nature of the Zionist regime and the atrocities it committed in Gaza.”

Pezeshkian accused the Zionist entity of “assassinating Iranian scientists, diplomats and even guests” inside Iran, stressing that the only way to end “this nightmare that has been going on for 70 years” is to res
tore the right of all Palestinians to self-determination.

The Iranian president stressed the importance of unity in the region and cooperation to confront common challenges, noting that he will work to lay a solid foundation for Iran to enter a new phase to play an effective and constructive role in the evolving global system.

He touched on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran’s nuclear program that was concluded in 2015, and said that his country agreed at the highest level to nuclear supervision in exchange for recognizing its rights and lifting sanctions, which he considered to be “targeting innocent people and seeking to undermine the Iranian economy.”

He added: “The opportunity is available to enter a new era that begins with recognizing Iran’s security concerns and cooperation on common challenges.”

In order to build a better world, Pezeshkian said: “Iran stands ready to strengthen meaningful economic, social, political and security partnerships with world powers and its neighbors o
n the basis of equality.”
