GCC Secretary General meets UN Special Envoy to Yemen

The Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi received the United Nation’s (UN) Special Envoy to Yemen Secretary General Hans Grundberg.

The meeting discussed the GCC’s firm position on supporting legitimacy in Yemen and ending the Yemeni crisis by reaching a political solution as per the three references, the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and Security Council resolution 2216.

The two parties exchanged views on the GCC’s supportive efforts to renew the truce sponsored by the UN and support the humanitarian, relief, economic and development fields in Yemen.

The GCC secretary general affirmed the Gulf regional countries’ determination to support all international efforts and achieve security, stability, development and peace.

GCC states members and leaders underlined their backing to the Yemeni legitimacy represented by the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by Dr. Rashad Al Alimi, and the entities supporting the Council.
