Tripoli, Foreign Media Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the release of the journalist “Ziyad Al-Werfalli” and the photographer accompanying him, who worked for Al-Ghad TV.
The department stated in a statement that the arrest of the journalist and
the photographer was carried out by a competent security authority due to the absence of a work permit or a permit from the Foreign Media Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this journalist and photographer, which is contrary to the law and regulations in force in Libya.
The department indicated that after completing the necessary investigations from the security authorities, the journalist pledged to communicate with his media organization to present all the documents required to complete his legal procedures.
The Foreign Media Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call to all foreign journalists and media institutions to communicate with the Department and to take the necessary measures to facilitate their media duties inside the Libyan territories.
The Libyan Media Corporation had reassured the family of "Ziyad Al-Wafli" and his colleagues on Al-Ghad TV that he was safe and about his release.
In a statement, it called, in particular, to all foreign media operating in Libya, to settle the legal status of their offices and correspondents throughout Libya, and to obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the Libyan Media Corporation and the General Department of Foreign Media.
