International Food Film Festival Kicks Off Today in Wolfville

November 12, 2014 – Wolfville, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

It’s an event that educates and entertains through food films from around the world. Now in its fourth year, Devour! The Food Film Fest will bring more than 8,000 food and film enthusiasts to Wolfville this week.

Chefs and filmmakers have joined forces to deliver a five-day program of food films, industry sessions, farmer’s market events, wine tours, chef demos, tastings, pop-ups, receptions and special dinners.

Local businesses are mobilizing to offer new visitors a taste of Nova Scotian cuisine and hospitality. More than 60 restaurants, accommodations, attractions and shops are participating in the week’s festivities by featuring special products, services and promotions.

In addition to the boost in off-season traffic, Devour! is benefitting local tourism by showcasing the region to international audiences. It is highlighting the area’s appeal as a culinary tourism destination and as a venue to host large-scale events.

The Government of Canada is contributing $100,000 to this year’s festival, through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP). This support will assist with marketing and programming to deliver the festival.

The Government of Nova Scotia has invested $122,500 in the event.
