FM discusses with his Indian counterpart economic and trade opportunities between the two countries

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar economic and trade opportunities between the two countries.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Hussein met with the Indian Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and during the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two countries, the commonalities and opportunities that can be invested in developing and upgrading these relations, and they stressed the need for relations to move in the right direction to be effective and productive in various fields.”

The Indian Minister extended an official invitation to the Foreign Minister to visit India in the near future, expressing his thanks for Iraq’s participation in the World South Summit, which was recently held under the auspices of the Indian President, where Hussein delivered Iraq’s speech that expressed the country’s orientations on the t
opics raised.

For his part, the Minister promised to respond to the invitation early next year. The meeting also discussed economic and trade opportunities between the two countries, where it was agreed to organize a visit for a delegation of businessmen and representatives of the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce to India to meet their counterparts and expand the horizons of economic cooperation.”
