Eleven people killed in road accidents last month, says police

RAMALLAH, Eleven people were killed and 1,199 others injured in 1,372 traffic accidents in the West Bank last month, the police said in a press statement on Saturday.

It said 26 of the injuries were described as serious, 69 moderate and 1,104 light.

The police also said that out of 58,172 vehicles tested last week, permits of 538 vehicles were canceled for lack of safety conditions, whereas 2,061 vehicles were destroyed for being illegal.

The police said it issued 19,700 traffic tickets for violation of road rules during the last week alone.
