The charge d’affaires of the State of Libya Embassy in Banjul, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim A.A
Abusheriah, has written to the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Prof.
Alh. Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh Nasirul Deen Babili Mansa, praising among other things, his and
his government’s “sincere and brave stance” taken during the political problem against
the former regime in February, 2011.
The remaining text of his letter reads:
“I have the honour on my own behalf and on behalf of the Libyan people and the interim
government of the State of Libya to write to Your Excellency Sheikh Prof. Alhaji Yahya
A.J.J Jammeh, the president of the Republic of The Gambia, congratulating Your
Excellency, your honourable family, the people of The Gambia and the government under
your wise and unique leadership.
Firstly, on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the politically, socially and
economically important commemoration of the 22nd July Revolution, which has actually
brought about tangibly paramount visible transformations in The Gambia.
Secondly, on the completion of the Holy month of Ramadan and aent of the blessed Eid Fitr
may Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala shower His blessings upon you and endue you with profound
health, and sustainable resources to enable you to realize all your aspirations for our
sisterly Gambian people and the world at large.
Your Excellency, this congratulatory letter is expressive of the heartfelt recognition
and acceptance by of the Libyan people of the unique and indispensably brave and sincere
stance taken by Your Excellency, your government and The Gambian People in support of the
Libyan People in their bitter struggle against oppression and injustice in February 2011.
Your unforgettable support was a catalyst during those difficult times.
Your Excellency, your endowed leadership qualities are God given, therefore, the
international community is in dire need of your caliber to intervene gly in the peaceful
solution of crisis in order to make the world a better and more sensible place to leave
in especially at this trying times.
May Allah protect, guide and assist in all your endeavours. Ameen.
