Changes to Covid-19 measures, vaccinations only after telephone appointments

Changes to the measures against the spread of Covid-19 were announced on Friday with a new decree issued by the Health Ministry, lifting several restrictions, while, vaccinations will now be available only after telephone appointments.

According to the Health Ministry, several of the measures currently in force, will be lifted as of May 5, 2023.

With the new decree, among other things, all restrictions will be lifted on visits to outpatient clinics, medical and diagnostic centers, such as the presentation of a certificate of vaccination/recovery/negative test, while the maximum daily limit on the number of visitors to nursing homes and other closed structures for the care and accommodation of the elderly and vulnerable groups, is also lifted.

The same applies for the mandatory use of masks on public transport.

People found positive for Covid-19, will still need to self-isolate between five and seven days, it is noted.

At the same time, the maximum price for PCR tests is being reduced from pound 30 to pound 25 and of the rapid tests from pound 10 to pound 5. The maximum price of self-tests remains at pound 1.70 per piece and pound 6 per pack of 5 tests.

The Ministry also notes that the validity of the recovery certificate remains at 90 days, while scanning of the QR code of the European Digital COVID Certificate is also abolished.

The Health Ministry also announced that, starting next Monday, vaccinations against Covid-19 will be carried out at the vaccination centres in all districts, only after a telephone appointment.

It notes that, all approved vaccines – Pfizer/BioNTech (BA.4 – BA.5), Moderna (BA.4 – BA.5), Johnson and Johnson, VidPrevtyn Beta Sanofi Pasteur, Comirnaty Pfizer – will be available at the vaccination centres.
