Central Bank of Libya discusses creation of instant payments system

Tripoli – The National Council for Payments held, Monday, its first meeting for 2023 headed by Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Sadiq Al-Kabier.

The Council discussed regulatory controls for local payment network and annual report for using various electronic payment methods, creating the Instant Payment system, in addition to the use of Smart Card and activating RTGS and ACH systems on state salaries to ensure their arrival on the same day to beneficiaries.

The meeting comes within the framework of Central Bank of Libya’s follow -up of the requirements of national digital economy and development of electronic payments.

The National Council for Payments includes in its membership general managers of Al -Gomhoria, Al -Sahara, North Africa, the Libyan Islamic Bank, managers of Al -Madar, Transactions and managers of the Libyan Capital Market, Libya Insurance Company, President of the Telecommunications Holding Company and a member of the Ministry of Finance, and heads it Governor of the Central Bank of Libya.
