The 55th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) wrapped up on Tuesday6/2/2024 after attracting nearly five million visitors from across Egypt and all over the world. The CIBF kicked off on January 24 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center, with the participation of 1,200 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers and more than 5,000 exhibitors from 70 countries. This year's edition was held under the slogan "Creating Knowledge ... Preserving the Word." The eminent Egyptologist Dr. Selim Hassan was chosen as the main character of the fair this year. During a press conference earlier in the day, Minister of Culture Nevine el Kilani announced the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor of the coming edition of the Cairo International Book Fair in 2025. Kilani attended the ceremony where Hilde Klemetsdal, Ambassador of Norway to Cairo, handed over the role of the Guest of Honor from his country to Khalifa Bin Rashid Al Shamsi, the Deputy Hea d of the Mission of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo. Source: State Information Service Egypt Cairo, The Arab Parliament condemned the intention of the elected Argentine president, Javier Milei, to move the embassy of his country to the occupied city of Jerusalem. The Parliament noted ,in a statement , that 'This measure is condemned and rejected, noting that 'any step in this direction represents a flagrant violation of international law.' 'This measure would undermine the two-state solution and encourage the occupying entity to continue its violations against the Palestinian people and Christian and Islamic holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem,' The Parliament stressed. It concluded that the Argentine president's announcement 'explicitly contravenes the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council and is considered null and void.'.
