Tripoli, the detachments of the 444th Battalion Brigade of the Tripoli Military District were able to seize several vehicles, weapons and a shipment of fuel that were intended for smuggling south of Bani Walid and Al-Qurayyat.

The brigade confirmed in a video clip broadcast on its official page, followed by the Libyan News Agency today, that the smuggling operation that was thwarted consisted of a fuel shipment led by 8 gunmen who were arrested and all their weapons confiscated.

Several smuggled cars containing people of different foreign nationalities were also seized, “5 from Yemen, two from Ghana, 12 from Niger, 4 from Nigeria and 2 from Sudan.”

The 444th Fighting Brigade indicated that the tight ambush prepared by its detachments was successful after armed clashes with outlaw groups that engage in smuggling, and one of them was wounded.

The brigade stressed that its soldiers are continuing their duties to combat smuggling operations and eliminate its networks wherever they are, in order to protect the homeland and its property.
