The Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdulaye Bathily, expressed his wishes that all Libyan parties would be inspired by the blessed month of Ramadan the values of tolerance, self-detachment, making concessions and meeting on one word for the sake of Libya and its people. This came in a message addressed by the UN envoy to the Libyans on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, wishing that this holy month will return to everyone in Libya with goodness, Yemen and blessings.

He said in a message published by the mission on its Facebook page, “The month of Ramadan falls this year, amid the expectation of Libyan women and men with fear in light of the continuing political crisis, but expressed hope that political leaders will agree on a national solution that avoids further division and instability, and moves it towards safety.”

The UN envoy stressed that the only solution to achieve this hope is to hold free and fair elections this year, which restore legitimacy to institutions and put the country on the path to recovery, growth and prosperity.
