Tripoli, January 08, 2023 (LANA) – President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, said that all experiments in building power in Libya failed because they ignored the solution and jumped on the demands of the Libyan people to the demands of politicians in Libya and created fragile formulas for sharing power and wealth, which further complicated the scene.

In his speech at the preparatory forum for the National Reconciliation Conference, whose work began today, Sunday, in Tripoli, Al-Manfi stressed that the solution to the Libyan crisis is not the division of power and influence or the sharing of resources and money, but rather in bridging the rift, reparation, pardon, reconciliation, restoring fraternal national cohesion and coexistence in this benevolent country, as well as in reference to the rules of custom, religion, and peaceful and democratic practices in settling the conflict.

He added that the Presidential Council was never part of this problem, as it stood firm at an equal distance from all parties involved in the struggle for power, which it was never one of those who clung to it or competed for it, and it committed itself to its lofty mission in creating the political, legal and social grounds for reconciliation.

The President of the Presidential Council affirmed that the Council made every effort and time for this goal in conditions that were not favorable, and that the achieved achievement has not yet reached the stage of reaping the fruits of the national reconciliation project, because this can only be achieved through the involvement of all legislative, executive, judicial and security authorities in an action program that the Presidential Council is working on, and laying its foundations and legal frameworks.

Al-Manfi added that the Presidential Council is counting on the support of all members of the people to maintain peace, a cease-fire, and safe movement throughout the country, which was achieved as a national gain during his assumption of the supreme political responsibility in the country.

Al-Manfi called on the Libyan people to put positive popular pressure on all political bodies in the country in order to complete the reconciliation project, produce the constitutional basis, and pass through the transitional stages to the stage where the people exercise their right to determine their options and the future of their children.

The President of the Presidency Council expressed his thanks to the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, represented by its head, Abdullah Batili, and to the African Union, represented by President Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of the Congo, Chairman of the High-level Committee in charge of the Libyan file, for his full support for the efforts of the Presidency Council to achieve the merit of national reconciliation in Libya.
