Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed Thursday 13/7/2023, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, at the headquarters of the Ministry’s General Office.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and Dr. Menen Abdel Maksoud, Secretary General of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the memorandum of understanding between the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment provides for cooperation between the two parties in conducting research and studies on the mental health of children and adolescents and their families, and exchanging data and information resulting from studies and surveys that it conducts.
Abdel Ghaffar indicated that the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment – according to the memorandum of understanding – is committed to providing the necessary support and training and transferring expertise in the field of mental health for children and adolescents working in the Psychological Support and Family Counseling Unit, while providing scientific material and expertise in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry for a contract workshops and trainings for psychologists and child protection committee specialists in the governorates and NGOs partnering with the child helpline “16000 “.
